Congratulations to Vanessa Schiola for her promotion to Executive Chef at Residences at Deer Creek in Schererville, Indiana! Vanessa has been with Residences at Deer Creek since we opened in 2013. She has more than 20 years of experience with fine dining, catering, menu planning and development, and senior living.
With the help of her expertise, Residences at Deer Creek won awards through the Taste of Care food competition for three consecutive years. Vanessa feels strongly that our community wins so many awards because our culinary team is passionate about food and cares so much.
Vanessa’s new role as Executive Chef is to create and provide beautiful, delicious, and healthy meals for the residents, their guests, and employees. Food and shared dining experiences bring people together, and create an opportunity for community, laughter, and enjoyment.
Passionate about bringing joy to our residents through food, Vanessa enjoys creating a menu that appeals to everyone. Her menus typically reflect a fusion of familiar classics with a delightfully surprising twist. She loves seeing families join their loved ones in the restaurant for meals; laughing and chatting over meals enjoying “food for the soul” as she calls it.
In her free time, Vanessa enjoys keeping up on industry trends in food, healthy cooking and senior living. She also enjoys travelling with her husband – especially on their annual Disney vacation, animals, movies, concerts, and muscle cars.
